The Cardinal Foundation will award more than $34,000 in scholarships to qualified Gadsden State Community College students for the 2022-23 academic year. Scholarships may be applied toward tuition, fees and books.

The Gerald Acker Scholarship for the Electrical Technology Program will be awarding two $2,000 scholarships. One scholarship will be awarded to a first-year student planning to enroll in the Electrical Technology Program and the other scholarship will be awarded to a student already attending Gadsden State.
The Benjamin Steinberg Nursing Scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $500 to one Etowah County resident accepted into the GSCC Registered Nursing program for the 2022 Fall Semester.
The Chad Hawkins Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to a full-time student who has at least a B average and demonstrates financial need. Resident of Etowah and Dekalb counties are preferred.
The Dr. Aletta Williamson Leadership Scholarship is available to full-time students who have at least a 3.0 GPA and provides evidence of leadership and volunteer hours. The $1,000 scholarship may be given on either a merit or financial need basis and will be awarded in the fall.
The Louis and Elaine Marsalis Scholarship offers two $2,500 scholarships to residents of Cherokee County who attend classes at Gadsden State Cherokee. Recipients must be enrolled full-time in one of the following declared majors: science, technology, engineering or mathematics.
The Michael Scott Hatten Memorial Scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $1,000to a student pursuing a degree in the Precision Machining Program at the Ayers Campus.
Tim and Laura McCartney Career Technical Education Scholarship Fund provides three $1,500 scholarships annually for students in technical programs involving the construction trades. It is available to current seniors or graduates from a public or private high school in Etowah County, who have a minimum high school GPA of 2.5. Financial need will be considered.
The Student Access Scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $1,500to one student enrolling or currently enrolled at Gadsden State Community College.
The Swoop Sprint 5k Scholarship will be awarded to three students enrolled at Gadsden State in the amount of $1,500.
The Alabama Homebuilders Association Construction Scholarship is offering a $600 scholarship to a student already enrolled or planning to enroll in the Construction Program for the summer semester.
The Cardinal Foundation Calhoun County Scholarship is offering one $1,500 scholarship to a resident of Calhoun County who will be attending Gadsden State Community College in the fall.
The Tyler Union Workforce Scholarship for Electricians will be awarded to a full-time student pursuing an Associate in Applied Science in Electrical Technology or Industrial Automation Technology. The award will be for $1,000 for the 2022-23 academic year and is renewable for a second year. Priority is given to residents of Cherokee County. Financial need must be demonstrated.
The Walmart Community Foundation Workforce Readiness Scholarship is a one-time, non-renewable scholarship for a student planning to enroll or is currently enrolled in a workforce readiness program at the Ayers Campus. Financial need must be demonstrated. The award is $250 for the Fall Semester and $250 for the Spring Semester. Funding was provided by the Walmart store in Oxford.
The William Thomas Dawson Family Scholarship will provide $3,000to two deserving students. The two-year scholarship will be awarded to a student enrolled in a career technical program and to a second student enrolled in either academic or health science programs. Recipients must demonstrate financial need and must be a resident of Etowah County.
The criteria for determining the scholarship awards include grade point average, official transcripts, career goal summary, residential status and financial need.
