Dear Etowah County Students, Parents and Stakeholders,

As you are probably already aware the Alabama State Department of Education has released guidance concerning the reopening of schools for the upcoming year which will begin on August 11th in our system. Our Etowah County Schools leadership team is busy formulating our plan to reopen our schools utilizing this guidance. Our system also released a survey concerning reopening and if you have not already done so please complete this at your earliest convenience. The link to the survey can be found here:

ECBOE EDUCATIONAL LEARNING OPTIONS for 2020 - 2021

OPCIONES DE APRENDIZAJE EDUCATIVO DE ECBOE para 2020-2021

Although our final plan has yet to be released, please know that we plan to offer both a traditional schooling option within our buildings as well as a remote learning option which will allow students to learn away from the traditional school setting. We plan to have specifics on the remote option in the near future.

For students returning to the traditional school setting safety will be paramount. We will follow guidelines from The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) for cleaning and sanitizing our buildings as well as providing hand sanitizer for regular use.

I want to thank everyone for their diligence and patience since March. We will communicate our Etowah County specific plan to all stakeholders shortly and please know that our priorities are the safety of our students and employees while also providing the best educational opportunities possible.

Sincerely,

Alan Cosby, Ed.D.
