Etowah County Students Place in American Heritage Essay Contest

Students in 5th- 12th grades were invited to participate in the American Heritage Essay Contest sponsored through the James Gadsden (DAR) Daughters of the American Revolution, the Alabama Society of the DAR and the National Society of the DAR.  Winners were chosen from each grade and sent to the state for judging.

The local winners included:
Hokes Bluff High School, 12th grade:  Kathryn Carroll
Rainbow Middle School, 8th grade: Katheren Gwin
Rainbow Middle School, 7th grade: Landry Davis
West End Elementary School, 6th grade:  Zandi Patterson
Two of the local winners placed in the state:
Rainbow Middle School, 7th grade:  Landry Davis, 2nd place winner on the state level of all 7th-grade students.
Hokes Bluff High School, 12th grade:  Kathryn Carroll, 3rd place winner on the state level of all 12th-grade students.
