2011 Etowah Youth Orchestras Spring Performance Calendar

The Spring Performance Calendar of the Etowah Youth Orchestras includes numerous concerts to wrap up the 2010-2011 season, including the EYO Spring Formal Concert, the Red Brick Collective’s Spring Concert, and the annual EYO Spring Strings Concert.


The Etowah String Philharmonic and the June Moore Bugg Prelude Strings, both under the direction of EYO Associate Conductor Roland Lister, will perform as a part of the EYO Spring Strings Concert on Sunday, May 1st.  The concert, which is a part of the Daugette Family Foundation/Serendipity Dance Club Concert Series, will be a 2 PM performance, and will be held in the Recital Hall of the Mary G. Hardin Center for Cultural Arts.  Tickets for this concert are $7.00. 


 The Red Brick Collective will present its annual spring concert on Thursday, May 12th, at 7:30 PM at Temple Beth Israel in Gadsden.  The performance will feature numerous RBC ensembles, including the String Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Woodwind Quintet, and Brass Quintet.  Tickets are $10 for this program.


The 2010-2011 concert season concludes on Sunday, May 22nd with the EYO Spring Formal Concert, which is also a part of the Daugette Family Foundation/Serendipity Dance Club Concert Series.  The 2 PM concert will be held at Wallace Hall on the campus of Gadsden State Community College, and will feature performances by the Etowah Symphonic Wind Ensemble and the Etowah Youth Symphony Orchestra.  The Wind Ensemble will perform music by J.F. Wagner, Gustav Holst, David Holsinger, and James Barnes.  The Youth Symphony’s program includes the World Premiere performance of “Jubilee Promenade” by Stella Sung, which was commissioned for the 20th Anniversary Season of the EYO, plus music by Arturo Marquez and selections from Hans Zimmer’s score for “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.”  The performance will also feature a salute to the music of George Gershwin, featuring pianist Kathy Gregory performing “Rhapsody In Blue” and vocalist Jana Sanderson McEachern singing “Someone to Watch over Me” and “I Got Rhythm.”  Tickets for this performance are $10.
