Hours:            8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Location:        Etowah County Career Technical Center

Grades:          6-12

Tuition:           $250.00 per class

Registration for high school students will be June 3 & 4, 2015.

Registration for middle school students will be July 6 & 7, 2015,

8:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon at the Etowah County Career Technical Center

 Instructional Method

Course credit will be offered through computer-based instruction utilizing ACCESS or Odysseyware full course offerings or through credit recovery. It will be determined by the home school which method the student is eligible to pursue. The Etowah County Board of Education Credit Recovery policy will be followed in all cases. Certified teachers will be employed to assist the students.

Summer School Regulations

  • A student desiring to attend summer school must obtain written permission from his/her home school principal prior to registering.
  • Courses will not be available to students enrolled in summer school unless the student has already failed the course.  If a course is part of the student’s approved program of study and is a pre-requisite for the student to take another course during the regular school year, he/she may take the course in summer school.
  • A student will not be enrolled in summer school solely for the purpose of reducing his/her class load for the ensuing academic year. A student may earn one full credit during summer school. However students who qualify for credit recovery may make up two classes in summer school.
  • All classes will be on-line.  A certified teacher will be in the classroom for assistance and supervision.
  • Students pursuing Credit Recovery must meet the requirements outlined in Etowah County’s Credit Recovery procedures.

Disciplinary Requirements

  • All disciplinary codes applicable to the regular school session will be applied to summer school.
  • Dress code will be the same as the regular school day requirements.
  • Students who cause disciplinary problems will not be tolerated.  Should a student be expelled from summer school, tuition will not be refunded.

 Attendance Requirements

  • Full class time is required to receive course credit
  • Students must attend class every day until they have completed their assigned module.
  • When students have finished the complete module they are assigned they will be awarded credit for the course and will have completed all requirements for summer school. 
  • No absences or tardies will be excused.

 Tuition

  • Tuition will be $250.00 per class.
  • Checks should be made payable to the Etowah County Board of Education and should include the name of the student.
  • Tuition must be paid by first day of class.

 Transportation

  • Students are responsible for transportation to and from school.

Applications

  • Applications may be picked up from home school counselor or principal.
