A: To become a school bus driver, complete the following steps:
1. Study the Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Manual sections on General Knowledge, Air Brakes, Passenger and “S” Endorsement (manuals available at Glencoe Driving Range).
2. Take CDL written exam at the Jacksonville State Trooper's Office. Inform examiner you are taking the test to be a school bus driver.
3. See Mrs. Misty Roberts at the Etowah County Board of Education Central Office, 3200 W. Meighan Blvd., Gadsden, to complete your paperwork and background check.
4. Contact Mr. Jimmy Sewell or Mrs. Dana Elrod (538-8331) about attending New Drivers School. The New Driver's School is offered one time per year in April or May.
